Felittese Italian Festival 1998

The Felittese Association of Old Forge, Pennsylvania welcomes everyone to its annual Festival to be held September 11, 12 & 13, 1998 at 146 Third Street, Old Forge. The Festival is held annually on the second weekend in September in commemoration of Our Lady of Constantinople, who has been venerated in the town of Felitto, Province of Salerno, Italy, since 1790. The Association is comprised of descendants of Felitto, Italy, and in keeping with the traditions of prior generations, a festival is held annually to bring the descendants together for a weekend of renewing and making new acquaintances, indulging in ethnic foods, and listening to good music.

The Festival begins with a parade on Friday evening September 11, 1998 at 5:30 p.m. The parade will assemble at the Old Forge High School and proceed to the Chapel Grounds on Third Street where opening ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. Connie Genova, Chairperson of the Parade Committee, cochaired be Marie Mordent, Janet Mordent, Ann Costello, Connie Archer, Robert DeLayo and Anthony Mucciolo. The Festival Grounds open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, music will be provided by the Joe Bachak Orchestra.

A variety of homemade foods will be served featuring gnocchi, tripe, soffritto, porketta, sausage & peppers, cavatelli & broccholi, pizza fritta, and assorted Italian desserts and pastries.

On Saturday September 12, the Festival Grounds are open from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for food and refreshments. Entertainment on Saturday will be provided by the band Millennium.

On Sunday September 13, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Constantinople, a Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, located at Grace and St. Mary's Streets, Old Forge, Pennsylvania, by the Very Reverend Joseph Cipriano. Immediately following Mass a procession carrying the statue of Our Lady of Constantinople will follow, beginning at St. Mary's Church to the Chapel grounds on Third Street in Old Forge; thereafter the food and refreshments stands will open at Noon.

Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. the drawing for the raffle will be held, the Grand Prize being a 1998 Dodge Stratus or $15,000.00 cash, second prize is $2,000.00 cash, third prize is $1,000.00 cash. Music for Sunday evening starts at 7:30 p.m. provided by the Poets.
